adoptahighway is the moniker of classically trained music producer Barry Paul Clark. Throughout his years of formal music training and receiving a bachelor’s degree in classical performance, Clark devoted time and efforts to his electronic compositions. The formal training helped Clark in developing a unique sound with knowledge of classical theory, harmony and composition techniques.
While drawing inspiration from romantic era to minimalist composers, Clark also gathers inspiration from patterns of thought and memory, physical and non-physical relationships, and using objects to represent an idea or emotion, which is how the moniker of adoptahighway was chosen. Using controllers and performance software, his live shows are energetic, emotive, engaging and honest. Clark firmly believes that, rather than tag genres or artists to his music to give a predetermined expectation, listeners should be encouraged to open their ears and try to find their own connection to the sound.
Released by Ill Pill Records, based out of Philidelphia, PA the TERRORVISION EP is a-side/b-side split with fellow electronic producer and Ill Pill Records owner Sleetwalker. This night will celebrate the first time adoptahighway's music has been on vinyl!
Mindspyk & DoubleDrop |
http://soundcloud.com/mindspyk |
http://soundcloud.com/doubledropChronic Sonic Modulation, the infinite series of changes applied to the noise we humans call music. Mindspyk practices the "Chronic Sonic," and focuses on frequencies ranging from 20hz to 400hz, known as the "bass." Mindspyk's sonic skills were practiced at a young age with the drums, and while living and traveling for a year in India, Mindspyk learned to be a chronic modulator, known to most as a DJ. Mindspyk enjoys dance steppin waveforms such as Glitch Hop, Drumstep, IDM, and Dubstep. When preparing oneself for seeing Mindspyk live, be ready for an omni-bass / omni-tempo show you've never seen before. Mindspyk is a founding member of Bass Culture MKE, and a member of the Milwaukee Noize Collective. Recently, Mindspyk has opened for Archnemesis, Figure, Beats Antique, Ott, Phutureprimitive, Heyoka, Vibesquad, Mochipet, Bass Science, Salva, and NastyNasty.
DoubleDrop is Steve Teeple, a visual artist and purveyor of forward thinking music. He hosts the monthly End of Daze event at Redroom with Mr. Horror and has recently opened for Dieselboy at The Miramar Theatre. For MELT #15 DoubleDrop and Mindspyk will perform a special collaborative live/dj set.
Mr. Horror |
http://soundcloud.com/mrhorrorBorn in Moscow, Russia and heavily influenced by the UK bass and dub scene as well as the hip-hop and R&B greats, Mrhorror plays a unique mix of two-step, funky, and dub. He crafts a danceable yet darker vibe, catering to the deeper and more emotionally pulling side of electronic music. Starting out in the house scene, and eventually finding his home in the UK bass scene, Mrhorror has supported and shared the stage with artists like The Juan Maclean, Low Limit (Lazersword), Starkey, DJ Dara (Planet Of The Drums), Lotus, Mux Mool, NastyNasty, SALVA, Kraddy, Michael Menert and EOTO.
The Demix|
http://soundcloud.com/thedemixTHE DEMIX is described by The Onion AV Club as "eerily cinematic" and "apocalyptic". He is an electronic musician and DJ who can be heard playing anything from drum and bass, breaks and techno to brutal noise and ambient soundscapes, often all in the same set. He is responsible for this MELT series, and as of late, has been playing quite often at a wide variety of events destroying crowds and soundsystems.
