Milwaukee's favorite prodigal son returns!
Our Special Guest's passion for music and entrepreneurship has kept him balancing roles of business owner, talent buyer, and promoter for over a decade. From taking co- ownership of his first night club at age 25 to heading SmartBar Chicago as its Event Director, he has become one of the most recognized promoters in North America. His internationally viable electro/tech house label has garnered global success since it’s founding in 2007. In 2009, he migrated from the Midwest to Los Angeles, where he works first hand with venues including Vanguard and Supperclub, as well as San Francisco’s OM Records.
He launched his music career in his native city of Milwaukee, Wis., where he climbed through the promotional ranks of the Midwest music scene in the 1990s. His grass-roots success led to his co-ownership of Mantra Lounge in 2004, where he worked as its Director of Events, Bookings & Promotions. His consistent success put the city’s club scene on the national radar, as it garnered press attention from publications including URB and Nightclub/Bar Magazine. In 2006 his success also earned him runner-up for the “Best Promoter” in the U.S. by URB magazine.
In October of 2006, he relocated to Chicago to become the Event Director at Chicago’s Smart Bar. The historic venue has remained at the forefront of music for the past 30 years and still thrives as one of the oldest operating nightclubs in the world. Under the guidance of owner Joe Shanahan, our guest broaden his promotional and booking scope, debuting innovative artists to Chicago, including Switch, Alan Braxe, Digitalism, Crookers, Erol Alkan, Wolfgang Gartner and Claude Vonstroke.
In 2007, Club Systems Int. recognized his efforts to diversify and promote Chicago’s music scene by selecting him as one of its “Next 10 Exciting Up-and-Comers” as part of its annual VIP Edition—“Nightlife’s 30 Most Influential People.” Additionally, he has received critical Chicago fanfare, when he was named part of NewCity magazine’s “45 Most Influential People That Rock Chicago!”
His success in the nightclub industry led to his creation of his widely successful digital record label in 2007. With artists including: Santiago & Bushido, Crookers, HiJack and the Mightyfools, Potty Mouth Music has established itself as an innovative label embracing the newer dirty-quirky union of electro and techno releasing close to 40 EP’s.
In October 2009, this he relocated to Los Angeles to further pursue his career in the nightlife and music entertainment industry. In July of 2010, he became the new Friday night Event Director & Talent Buyer for Vanguard—one of LA’s premier super clubs that has been hosting top talent just shy of a decade. In October of 2010 San Francisco’s OM Records named him its L.A. Event Director, a position that has allowed him to curate several events a month at the brand new Supperclub in Hollywood.
Regardless of where he has lived, our special guest has continually evolved with the changing landscape of music and the nightclub industry. While always at the forefront of innovative promotional strategies, he has also brought traditional publicity, event production and bookings skills that have guided his success. Above all, his passion and precision continue to set the industry standard for the international music scene and nightclub industry.
