The Dubliner Irish Pub Closes
Jerry Stenstrup, owner of Steny’s Bar and Grill opened The Dubliner Irish Pub at 922 S. Second St.  just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, 2010. The restaurant now has a for sale or lease sign posted outside.

The Red Accordion Closes
Ann Christenson reported Thursday inside her weekly Dish on Dining that Russ Davis, who also owns the Lakefront Brewery Palm Garden and Rio West Cantina, has decided to close The Red Accordion Pub & Eatery (formerly Cafe Vecchio) at 1137 N. Old World Third St.

Davis, who spoke to Ann Christenson, said the construction of the neighboring Moderne high-rise was the major contributing factor for closing the restaurant.

lots of rumors about the venue.  nutshell is I believe that specific type of bar/restaurant needed a TON more advertising and marketing for the area, and instead relied upon the ol' "if you build it, they will come" mentality that many owners in this city have.

for whomever decides to go in there, a bit of advice....you should probably speak with the surround businesses before purchasing or signing the lease.  can't publicly state that I witnessed anything, but many businesses were keeping an eye on that corner and have talked openly about much of the new kitchen equipment being swapped out of the place with exchange of old versions being brought back over from Steny's.  If its true, and gets shared with people interested in the spot, I guess thats the Karma coming back around......guess maybe Steny's should be more neighborhood friendly when doing block parties and events, and people would look out for them in a more positive limelight  Wink

Maybe Stenny's will have better food with the new equipment. Thanks for the tip. That is a prime piece of real estate on that corner. I would have thought the Dubliner would have stayed open, the venue was a nice place. I am thinking that property will get snatched up quick, if there is no funny business...They should really put a seafood restaurant on that corner, the street doesn't have on yet.

I was part of a discussion last night regarding the Dubliner spot.  (and mind you, I'm surprised it didn't succeed with the parking and location of it as well).  can't say the suggested concept in exactness, but it was leaked that a potential purchaser would like to make it a bit more of an ethnic establishment.  something I think won't fly in the neighborhood, as they're currently trying to shut down places like Fuego, Texture, Envy, Sugar and Hide...and won't want to "ok" a potential (in their minds) establishment for the crowds to hang out at.  who knows.

asking price is really steep imo, but someone will buy.
