Milwaukee aldermen voted to shut down two nightclubs that repeatedly drew complaints from neighbors and attention from police.

The Common Council decided against renewing the licenses for Texture, 606 S. 5th St., and Club Bari, 628 N. Water St., citing reports of fights at both night spots.

Texture was also the target of a 25-day license suspension last year that owner Salvatore Salvo fought in court. This time, Salvo had said he wanted his license to be renewed just once more before he closes the Walker's Point nightclub in 2012, when his lease expires.

Club Bari's attorney, Robert Arenas, questioned whether patrons of neighboring nightclub 618 Live were responsible for some of the incidents blamed on his client's establishment. Assistant City Attorney Adam Stephens said Club Bari and 618 Live together were tying up as many police as all the establishments on N. Old World 3rd St. together.

few weeks old, but yeah this was an interesting council meeting.  envy was allowed to stay open due to a police processing blunder.  rain/hide/hyde/circus is being given 1 last chance by the alderman (friends with roberts parents). sugar is still fighting to be allowed to be open, but they'll lose that one. and fuego is the next target to get closed down once envy screws up.

"He said he was going to open up an Italian sports bar," said Bauman. "He said they would be playing Frank Sinatra. It ended up being a hip-hop club."

I know Starbar did something similar. It was supposed to be a dessert bar and when the alderman showed up there was no dessert and there were gogo dancers (which they didn't have a permit for).
