Feras Rahman of Milwaukee was found not guilty Friday afternoon on four of five counts related to the arson fire that destroyed the Pizza Man restaurant on Milwaukee's east side.
Rahman, 28, was convicted to lying to law enforcement officers and will be sentenced for that offense Aug. 31.
Defense attorney Craig Albee said he was "elated" for his client.
"Feras had no motive and was at home when the fire started. It was as simple ad that," Albee said.
The case was tried over nearly two weeks in federal court in Milwaukee. The jury of seven men and five women began deliberating Thursday at 3 p.m.
The case by the government was based almost entirely on circumstantial evidence, the prosecutors conceded in closing arguments.
Leaving the courtroom after the verdict, the prosecutors declined to comment.
Rahman was convicted on a single count of lying to law enforcement, which carries a maximum of five years in prison, but likely will result in much less time under federal sentencing guidelines. It could be a probation sentence.
